An authentic Victorian witch, with a new moon
I wouldn’t call myself a collector, but I do like to pick up a vintage book now and again. Sometimes it’s the appeal of a beautiful binding, sometimes I actually read them. Now and again though, I find a treasure – like this Victorian Witch engraving.
The book she lives in came to me in a state of disarray, the binding is bust and there are a lot of loose pages. It’s not a valuable book, but I wanted to save some of the beautiful engravings so I scanned some of them, and tidied them up in photoshop. This lady, I had made into a stamp, back when I had Waltzingmouse Stamps. I used that stamp to make this card. I also made her into a print, which is still in my Etsy store, here.
I have a new moons stencil in the store and was making a few card samples for that, when it struck me that it would have made the perfect backdrop for my Vintage Witch stamp.
Once the stamping was dry, I coloured her with a few copics, I think she turned out perfect. The sentiment on the card is stencilled, with black embossing paste, the sentiment stencil is part of this stencil set. I like the texture on an otherwise flat, one layer card. It’s actually great to have time to play around with the existing supplies, I have a ton of stuff from my WMS days, that I probably didn’t explore fully at the time. What have you got in your stash that you haven’t really maxed out yet? I’d love to know.
Ta for popping in!
